Classroom Level Up Chapter 11

11. Level 21~ Hero of the village.

“Thanks to you, I was saved.”

We accompanied the wagons to their destination, and then returned to the guild in Gordon. It seems that the other merchant caravans were almost completely wiped out, and only the ones we guarded all the way to the destination made it.

The representative at the guild will most likely greet our arrival with a look of great thanks in her eyes.

 “It would have been terrible if you kids hadn’t been here.”

“Is that so?”

“That’s right. Because we provide security for the cargo, reimbursement would have to be paid if were lost, stolen, or damaged.”

Is that so?

“It’s not just the matter of the money, it’s also about credit problems. Because it turned out so well, I’ll give you your reward. I will pay out 10,000 in bonds for now.”

I wonder how much 10,000 bonds are worth?

“Th-that much!?” Claire was shocked upon hearing the amount of money.

“Is that a lot of money?”

“It’s an order of magnitude more than what my parents give me for my monthly allowance.”

“Really, now?”

This is the first time I’m unaware of the worth of money, whether or not that’s a lot or not. Well, I’ll take what I can get.

“I ask for your continued patronage.” said the representative, bowing.

“Ah, okay.” Nodding, I took the reward and left the guild with the two girls.

“Do you want to split it up into equal shares later?”

“No, that’s what Senpai should have!”

“I agree. We would have been goners if Callus-kun had not been there. So, as thanks to you, I think that’s why you should have it, Callus-kun.”

“Is that so?”

A week passed where nothing much happened. In the morning I got up and went to the old man’s class. Charlotte had lots of questions, and we learned a lot. When class ended, we went to the cave and hunted monsters. It’s pretty much the same thing everyday.

Even so, the only real event during this time was when Claire levelled up. For some reason, she raised the level of the Caterpillar job class.

Nonetheless, it seems that we’re on the same level mentally. Nowadays, I don’t have to call out orders. With my support, Claire and Charlotte are able to defeat monsters handily. I picked up some tactics, and started to be able to communicate silently with just eye contact.

Also, the Dragon job class has risen up to level 7, and I’ve learned two new skills, but that’s all fine and dandy.

“Charo-chan, have you eaten anything today?”

“It’s fine. I have to deal with those sorts of difficulties on a daily basis, Claire-senpai.”

“If you come over to my place Charo-chan, then I can fix you something to eat.”

We left the cave and returned to the village after hunting this afternoon.

Claire and Charlotte’s friendship is getting stronger. Recently Claire started calling Charlotte by a nickname, and is inviting her to dinner on a daily basis.

“What about you, Callus-kun?”

“Me too?”

“Un, I’m fine with it.”

“You’re not inviting us over to eat leaves, are you?”

“Mou! Why would you even think that I would do such a thing to guests?”

We joked around as we returned to the village.

Entering the village, there was quite a ruckus going on. Usually, it’s pretty peaceful, but now there’s a lot of violent activity going on. Quite the uproar can be heard. Seeing this, we went in to see what was going on.

We arrived at the village square, which I had been told was used for festivals and was located at the center of the village. It appeared that some folks weren’t quite used to this sort of thing. Located there were 10 armed ruffians, occupying the square, and looking as if they owned the place.

“Bram-san!” Cried out Claire.

Men had fallen before the ruffians, their blood having been spilled. One of them looks familiar. It was the Level 15 martial artist Bram. It appeared that the fight had ended. I guess that he had fought them and lost. Furthermore, several young women are being held by the ruffians. It was troubling to a man’s heart.

“Brats, huh?” A ruffian saw us and laughed. “Do something for me, brat. Hey! Bring out the village chief!”Roared the ruffian.

After awhile, an old man arrived. It’s not been mentioned before, but this is the village chief Daryl.

“What’s the ruckus here?”

“Is this bastard the chief?”

“It appears…… that it would be me.”

“There will be no discussions. We are now the protectors of the village.”

“Will you actually protect us?”

“That’s right. From monsters or bandits.” Hearing this, the other ruffians laughed the man.

What kind of lowlife would say that? Was what started to come up into my mouth.

“However, we’re not doing this for charity, We want to be paid for our work.”

“……”

The chief looked downcast, as if being forced to swallow something bitter. In other words, these guys are running a protection racket.

“Chief.”

“Chief-san……” Anxious voices rose up from the crowd.

The chief looked at the ruffian, hoping to find something to trip them up with.

Bram, who still suffering, continued to bleed out. Seeing that the strongest man in the village had fallen, a look of resignation filled the chief’s face. The surrounding villagers looked the same way.

“I understand—-”

“Wait.” Just as the chief was about to acquiesce to the ruffian’s demands, I rose my voice.

“Hunh? What was that, a blood thirsty brat?”

“Callus-kun…… stop it, this is no place for child—-”

“HOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAARR!!” Dragon’s Roar II, the skill from Dragon Level 13. The roar was loud enough to shake the very earth beneath them.

The chief pulled back as mass hysteria broke out among the villagers. I could even hear a child crying out there.

The ruffians were shocked as well. It was the first strike, and also a signal. Next, Claire and Charlotte jumped out from behind me. The ruffian who whas shaken by the Dragon’s Roar II was taken down by Claire and Charlotte, who were unshaken by my attack.

The captured women were released, and the injured, including Bram, were treated. The injuries were terrible, but no one actually died.

“Thank you Callus-kun, Claire-kun.” Said the village chief in thanks. Charlotte was also with us, but as she was not well known, her name was not called out.

“It’s all thanks to you that we were saved.”

“Ah, you were saved.”

“Thanks.”

“How did the two of them get to be so strong?”

The villagers all thanked me in turn. It was because this occurrence, that we became heroes of the village.
